October 2014 ~ Grenada
Day 1478 ~ Cruiser JammingOctober 1st, 2014
Once a week, cruisers gather at one of the marinas to jam together. Each week is a little different with some of the same talent and also some new faces. They'll do this for 5-6 weeks until people start sailing off for parts beyond.
Day 1479 ~ October 2nd, 2014
Day 1484 ~ Floor RefinishOctober 7th, 2014
We've moved aboard Discovery in order to facilitate the floor refinish project, and not live in the mess. Peter began with the steps in hopes of learning a few things on a small, inconspicuous area before tackling the larger salon surface.
Day 1485 ~ October 8th, 2014
Day 1486 ~ Flute LessonsOctober 9th, 2014
Gavin, a British cruiser friend, plays sax, flute and clarinet. He offered to teach Emma the flute while we were both in Grenada. Once a week, Emma and I make the 15-minute walk over the hill to Prickly Bay Marina for her lesson.
Day 1487 ~ October 10th, 2014
Day 1488 ~ October 11th, 2014
Day 1489 ~ October 12th, 2014
Day 1490 ~ October 13th, 2014
Day 1491 ~ Shiny FloorsOctober 14th, 2014
The floor refinish project is done. No more glitter or paint. Now, it's time to clean up so we can move back aboard before Peter leaves for Alaska on Friday.
Day 1492 ~ October 15th, 2014
Day 1493 ~ Teen HangoutOctober 16th, 2014
We've got a great group of teens this season. They're respectful and get along well with each other. In addition to planning surf and swim days, they gather 3-4 times a week at Secret Harbor's volleyball court.
Day 1495 ~ Knee BoardingOctober 18th, 2014
The teens often plan their weekends at one boat or another. Today, the activity of the day was knee/wake-boarding off La Jeannoise.
Day 1498 ~ Surfin' USA...er, GrenadaOctober 21st, 2014
Today's teen activity of choice was surfing. The kids bring lunch to share, then paddle out to the mouth of the bay to ride the waves.
Day 1499 ~ October 22nd, 2014
Day 1500 ~ October 24th, 2014
Day 1502 ~ Halloween Kid PartyOctober 26th, 2014
The Secret Harbor staff likes kids, which is one reason we like to hang around. This year, they decided to host a Halloween fun day the Sunday before. They decorated in style, brought in a bounce house, a bubble machine, offered games, face-painting, gave away candy prizes and invited the cruisers and community. The kids had tons of fun.
Day 1505 ~ Trick or Treating, Caribbean StyleOctober 29th, 2014
Last year, we trick or treated around the bays so this year I took on the same task. I used the Cruisers' daily Net to request candy givers and kid participants. When it was all said and done, we rounded up 27 kids in 9 dingies and were invited to stop by 24 boats to get candy between the three bays. Needless to say, the kids, as well as the adults, had a blast and didn't come off their sugar highs for several days!
Day 1507 ~ Gramma VisitOctober 31st, 2014
Gramma is leaving tomorrow so we took some photos and helped her pack. Discovery kids just got back into town as well and anchored right in front of our boat so they came over to play.
